How to Convert PDF to TIFF on Windows?
Published
Converting a PDF to TIFF creates image output from the document’s pages. Before starting, check why the recipient needs TIFF and what image settings their workflow accepts. A file with the correct extension can still be unsuitable if its text is too small or its page organization is wrong.
Convert PDF to TIFF with LeoPDFree
LeoPDFree is the free Windows edition. Its supported conversions and file processing run locally on your computer without uploading your files for processing. PDF-to-image conversion includes TIFF output.
- Open your installed LeoPDFree app and choose its PDF-to-image conversion.
- Add the source PDF and choose TIFF as the output format.
- Review the options available in your version, including the pages and output location where offered.
- Run the conversion, then open the saved output in a TIFF-compatible viewer.
Button labels and available settings can differ between versions. Use the controls in your installed app rather than expecting an old converter screenshot to match. For the general workflow, see our PDF-to-image guide.
Check how multiple pages are saved
A PDF can contain many pages. Check whether the output from your selected settings is separate image files or a TIFF containing multiple frames, and confirm that the receiving application can read it. Do not assume that one filename means the viewer has shown every page.
Compare the first and last pages and count the output pages or images. Keep them in a clearly named folder so a page is not missed when you send or import the result.
Review readability and file size
Open representative pages at the size at which they will be used. Check small text, thin lines, colored labels and grayscale scans. If your app offers resolution or compression options, review those settings and compare the output before processing a large batch.
Converting a page into an image does not turn a scan into editable text. An image can look readable while containing no selectable text. For a text-recognition task, choose an OCR workflow instead of treating TIFF output as an editable document.
Choose the appropriate edition
LeoPDF store editions also perform this supported image conversion locally. Paid cloud processing with OCR applies to conversion to Word or Excel, not this TIFF task. Cloud files from those Word or Excel conversions are deleted when conversion completes.
Use the stable 64-bit Windows download or 32-bit download, and check the package requirements for your computer. You can also compare editions.
Keep the original PDF. Creating page images is different from extracting pictures embedded inside the PDF, which LeoPDFree does not support.
